Westwind's mission encompasses more than
just academics. Part of our mission is to help students mature
physically and socially. We recognize that many of our students will
become leaders; and we want them to have a solid foundation before
going on to college.
This part of our mission is reflected in our boarding program as
well. Boarding students reside in the Warrior Lodge residence on a full
time basis, typically returning home for the summer, as well as
Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring Break. However, exceptions can be made
for students who cannot return home at Thanksgiving or Spring Breaks due
to the short time frame. Students who choose to board are housed in an
environment designed to provide the support and encouragement one would
expect to find in a family setting. One to four students share a
bedroom; and experienced staff provide a
positive adult presence during after school hours and on weekends. All
living quarters have internet connectivity, so students are encouraged
to bring a laptop or desktop computer with wireless capability.
Students and house parents will share mealtime, unless students are
participating in extracurricular activities. All students, including
those in extracurricular activities, will share mealtime at least twice
weekly. The Warrior Lodge also has laundry facilities so students can
do their own laundry. The cost for housing is $800.00 per month for
room and board.
